The finding aid and database for the collection of the Society of German Naturalists and Physicians (GDNÄ) are now also available online. This new, free service will be presented at the 134th General Assembly in Bremen.

The new online resource provides access to the GDNÄ archive at the Deutsches Museum, comprising 30 metres of shelving and just under 1,900 records. The data can be accessed via a PDF (982 KB) or via the “Deutsches Museum Digital” web portal. 

The collection, with archive number FA 016, comprises the records of the GDNÄ – one of Germany’s oldest and most significant scientific associations – and offers valuable insights into the history of the natural sciences and medicine. Among other things, the collection contains minutes of committee meetings, extensive series of correspondence and documents relating to the Society’s conferences. The collection focuses on the period from after the Second World War through to the 1990s. 

As part of the 134th GDNÄ Assembly, taking place from 17 to 20 September 2026 in Bremen, the Head of the Deutsches Museum Archive, Dr Matthias Röschner, will present the results of the cataloguing work at an information stand. He will explain the structure of the collection on site, provide practical tips for online research and be available to answer questions.
